Soccer 10.25.08

Saturday was once again soccer time!! The weather was good and the kids were ready to play!

Karter's team played Noah's team.  He played really hard, but their team wasn't able to beat Noahs!! (He was happy that Noah won though)
Karter on the field!
Karter getting the ball away from Noah!

Traevn and Brekken both played awesome, although Traevn got a little tired during the middle of it (it was because he stayed up so late on Friday night:))
Going after the ball!!
Brekken (#5) is not afraid of getting the ball away from the other team!
Their team tied!!

Peyton's team once again dominated the field!! They are undefeated so far!!
It is so fun to watch Peyton, he gets so intense!!

Once again, good job boys and thanks for keeping our Saturdays packed full of fun!!
We love you!!

"Fantasy" husband for rent....

You think I may be joking but I am not....
I hate FANTASY SPORTS..... Not only do I lose my husband during the REAL seasons of soccer, football, basketball, etc.  I also lose him during the "fantasy" leagues as well.
Tonight was draft night for his fantasy basketball, so did I have a husband?  Nope!

As if that wasn't bad enough, I didn't have a husband for the last two months due to this.....
You guessed it...."fantasy" football!
On second thought maybe I'll just join him with a little of my own.......

"fantasy soccer"
Do you think he would go for that?
Yeah right!:)

Dear Heavenly Father....

"Thank you for this beautiful day.  Thank you for my mom and my dad.  Thank you for Traevn, Brekken, Peyton, and Brynlei.  Thank you for all the blessings you have blessed us with.  Heavenly Father I ask that you will bless us with another little baby sister so that my mom and Brynlei aren't the only girls in our family.  Please help us be able to go through these hard times in our life and help us go through the good times too.  Thank you for Jesus dying for us so that we can live with you again someday.  I love you.  In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

It seriously touches me so much.  It's amazing that we are supposed to be the teachers to them but they end up teaching us so much more!

Love you Karter

I am craving........

......an apple pie caramel apple from Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory!!!

Okay, I will be the first to admit that two years ago this would not have been on the top of my list.  I was never a fan of caramel apples, I didn't hate them but I definitely didn't love them!  Until, about two years ago one of my awesome visiting teachers (she has since moved:() brought one by my house.  It was this same kind and that is where my love affair began....  At first, I would make Nate get me one at least once a week but now I haven't had one for almost a year.   It's this time of year that reminds me of treats like these and ever since I saw one a couple of weeks ago I have been craaaaaving one!! So as I was searching the internet the other day and I came across a recipe that is supposed to compare to RMCF's version.   I will post the recipe when I make them and let you know if it passes the test!  Anyway, other things I crave at this time of year are:
*pumpkin bars
*pumpkin cookies
*pumpkin bread
*cream cheese frosting :)
*soup
*warm rolls
*chili
*etc....
As you can tell most of the things on my list are not the healthiest.   I have to restrain myself from indulging too much, otherwise that 1o more pounds I want to lose will end up being 20 pounds!! :)

KaRtEr'S MoViE ReViEw

I noticed that we haven't had one of Karter's movie reviews for quite a while.  He has been asking me if he could do it again.  As mentioned before, Friday night's are FAMILY MOVIE NIGHT's in our home.  We try to rent or watch movies that we haven't seen before.  Last night, Journey to the Center of the Earth was playing at the $2.00 theater, so we decided to go and see it.  Here is his review:
"It was one of the best movies I have ever seen!  My favorite part was when there were floating rocks and Shawn, the boy, was on one spinning.  There was a T-Rex in it too.  Shawn asked his uncle Trevor if he had ever seen a dinosaur before.  He said, "Not with skin on it."  It was funny.  I give this movie 5 stars!! Go and see it."

*We have seen some really good movies lately, so there will definitely be more reviews coming.

Whiskey. Tango. Hotel!!

What the Heck?

They say that bad things usually come in threes, but apparently not for us.... Try at least 6 or 7 in the last couple of months.....(knock on wood, right?)
I swear it is either just our bad luck or something just as crazy (like kids:))...
First off our one-year old dishwasher breaks (of course right after the warranty expires...)
then, Peyton breaks our pocket door separating the kitchen from the pantry... (kids you gotta love them:))
then of course as you all know from an earlier post our old IMAC bit the dust (of course once again as soon as the warranty expires...)
then our air conditioner decides to shut down....(lovely especially in the heat of the desert afternoons)
then our sprinklers spring a leak (lovely)
we have had a few others but why make the list even longer......
I mean "are you kidding me?"  Luckily Nate has been able to fix  a lot of these on his own (I am extremely grateful for that) for the others they have been fixed but not without being costly.
Oh yeah there is that problem still with the pocket door (if only there was a way to fix it without ripping a hole in the drywall, patching it back up, texturing it and painting it so that it matches the rest of the kitchen, and not taking another weekend away from us.   Oh well, I guess we don't really need it until I figure out how to do just that, it will have to wait!)
Thanks for letting us vent!!  Let's just hope that this bad luck is  behind us.....  at least for this week anyway!

Soccer 10/11

Look at his determination!

Soccer Update 10/11

Soccer yesterday was in one word, COLD!!  We have been anticipating the cooler weather, but to go from way warm to ice cold overnight is a little too fast for us warm-blooded people.

Once again Peyton, Brekken, and Traevn's games were all at the same time.  So I went to Peyton's game and Nate coached the other game.

Peyton: What could I possibly add... Peyton's team rocked even in the cold weather.  Most of them came bundled and ready to play.  Peyton scored 2 goals and helped to take his team to yet another victory!!  He was so funny because in between plays he would do this funky little dance (I guess he was just trying to keep his muscles warm.)  Good job Peyton!!

Traevn & Brekken:  Even though I only caught the last quarter of their game, they both played awesome.  I was sad because I missed Traevn make a goal!!!  He was so proud of himself.  Brekken ran his little heart out and helped his team out a lot!!! They are both improving so much this year and we couldn't be more proud!  Good job Trae & Brek!!!

Karter:  Kart's game was postponed until 6:00 PM and by then it was really cold and windy.  The kids and I were all bundled up on our bench with as many blankets as we could fit around us!  Karter's team played the team his was on last year and even though he wanted to beat them the gamed ended up in a tie (which is just as good) so he was happy!!!  He is such a good player and team mate to the other players on his team!! Good job Kart!!!

We love you boys and enjoy watching you play each week, keep up the good playing!!

*This week we get a little bit of a break since it is UEA weekend! Also, I was only able to get a couple pictures of Peyton because it was too cold to bring my hands out to take the pictures!! Hopefully next week I will get some more!

Our dirty little secret.....

Okay, I admit it........ we secretly love to eat brownies at our house.  Every Sunday (our cheat day from all things healthy) we make a batch of brownies. (it has to be milk chocolate) The kids looove to make brownies and more importantly loooove to consume them in record time :)  We allow ourselves this reward for being such healthy eaters during the week.......

Brynlei loves to help "steer" the brownies.....

but mostly, it's a race to see who gets to lick the bowl clean.... (unfortunately, I forgot to take a picture of this somewhat chocolatey mess)  Usually, this part can end up in tears if all kids do not get equal parts of the chocolate batter.  The kids have a hard time waiting for the brownies to cook and constantly ask, "Are they done yet?"  Leaving me to wonder why I voluntarily do this on a weekly basis.:)
My question to you would be are you a center or an edge eater?
Nate and I both love the edges the most!!  That's why when we saw this pan we knew that someday it will have a permanent place in our home!

*Just in case you were wondering what you could get us for Halloween/Thanksgiving/Christmas this should be enough of a hint:)

Grandma's Party!!

PIZZA PARTY!!

*For some reason I couldn't get this to show up on the other post!

HB Grandma Abbott

*Just to note first......Nate takes all the credit on posting the picture and the headline!

Happy Birthday Grandma Abbott!!
Today is Kathy's birthday!  My kids are so lucky to have her as their grandma, she is the best!! She is always doing thoughtful and fun things for them and with them.  They love when they get to sleep over at her house!!  She has the biggest heart and truly loves each one of her grandkids in a special way!  I am lucky that she is my mother-in-law, she has taught me so much!  She is such an example to me!!  She is creative, beautiful, kind, loving, genuine, a gourmet cook, etc. and is an amazing quilt maker. (When I was pregnant with Traevn, I wanted some cute bedding from Pottery Barn for the boys' room, but couldn't afford it at the time.  Kathy looked at a picture of it and made it exactly!! Of course, it turned out way better than Pottery Barn ever could!)  She is always there for our family, and is willing to do absolutely anything for us!  Thank you Kathy for all that you do and have done!  We celebrated her birthday a little earlier this week because she is going out of town today!  She had a pizza party and yummy cake and the boys were in heaven!!  We love you!! and remember to party hard!!

Walk to School Day!

Yesterday was "Walk to School Day" at Heritage Elementary.  The kids were all excited (not that they don't ride their bikes or walk every other day) because Dad decided to go in late so that he could walk to school with them.  Once they got to the school they got a necklace and a lanyard.  Each time they do laps they get little feet charms to attach to their necklace and once they have completed a full marathon they get special awards/prizes.
This program goes until March of next year.  I think this is great because it gets kids active (which I am all about) and learning about why exercise is good for their health.  Way to go kids, and I hope that they are able to go all-the-way!!!

HB Jaxon

It is my nephew Jaxon's 9th birthday!!!   We just wanted Jax to know how much we love him and that we are thinking about him on his special day!!!  Jaxon lives in Texas and so we don't get to see him as much as we would like to!!  We miss you Jax and hope that today you get to party, party, and party hard!!!  We love you!!!

Soccer update for 9.27

Soccer Games

Brekken/Traevn:  Started at 9 AM, which was the same time as Peyton's so I was only able to catch the very end of it.  They didn't win, but Nate had to end up coaching both teams playing because the other coach didn't show up..(we should of automatically won due to that, but go figure)  They played really hard and were both disappointed with their loss.  I told them that it's okay to lose as long as you played your best.

Peyton:  I went to his game, and once again.......he dominated!!! He is such a good player, and it's amazing that he knows the stuff he does, especially at his age. (I guess sitting on the sidelines and watching his older brothers' games over the years taught him something:)
His team won!!  Good job Peyter-pie!!

Karter:  He played his game up in Cedar City.  So after the other boys' games we took off to Cedar to play the #1 ranked team in his bracket!  Our boys played their best game yet, but didn't end up winning.  It was fun to travel up there anyway, afterwards we ate at The Pizza Factory.

You boys played awesome!!  We love you!!
